This book will help you to better understand about children with ADHD through the protagonist, inspired by the author’s younger brother. Thus, the readers could feel the love and warmth in every character and drawing. "JJ's Squiggly Mind" is a book you must have whether you are in the life of a child with special needs or not.
I would like to express my admiration for “Emmy” Sasin Thamakaison who was inspired by someone close to her and so created this book in form of bilingual cartoons. Knowledge in this book has been studied and gathered from books and the internet and has been verified by child and teenage psychologists at Siriraj Hospital. Being in the form of bilingual cartoons, this book is easy to read and understand how to recognize the ADHD symptoms, and to learn about problems and the effects to the child him/herself and other people, and the treatments. In addition, it may motivate the child and family members to get treatment for a brighter future.
Being in the form of cartoons, the story is easy to understand for all readers; even children can read and maybe understand their friends or other children who are just like "JJ". Because of this, children with ADHD may become accepted as someone who is normal and whose brain merely lacks certain chemicals necessary to control the actions, which can be treated with medication and self-control training. I would like to invite parents, teachers and everyone to read this book to get to know "JJ" and other hyperactive children.
This book paints a clear picture of children with ADHD. It helps parents and teachers to understand the characteristics of children with ADHD as well as gives them various guidelines of how to take care of them.
